Week 2 NJAC Football Weekly Honors Announced

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its football weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 14.
 


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
GUNNER WHITE • Christopher Newport University
Senior • Running Back • Virginia Beach, VA / Tallwood HS
 
White becomes the second Captain in as many weeks to earn NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring four touchdowns on Saturday in Christopher Newport's 49-14 victory at Gettysburg. White scored one rushing TD and also caught three passes for scores. With his four-touchdown performance, White now has 39 career scores, the most ever in CNU football history. The senior running back rushed the ball six times for 47 yards and led the squad in receptions with seven for 70 yards as the Captains improved to 2-0. His rushing score came on a 20-yard scamper to open the scoring, and his TD receptions came on plays of ten, seven, and four yards.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DAVE GIULIAN • The College of New Jersey
Senior • Linebacker • Stone Harbor, NJ / Middle Township
 
Giulian becomes the second Lion this season to earn NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after stuffing the stat sheet in TCNJ’s 17-3 win over Wilkes. The senior linebacker made seven total tackles, including two for a loss, broke up a pass, and added an interception that he returned 14 yards. His performance helped the Lions hold Wilkes without a first down until midway through the third quarter.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DAI’VIONNE FITZGERALD • Christopher Newport University
Junior • Defensive Back • Newport News, VA / Woodside
 
Fitzgerald collects NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after scoring on a blocked punt in CNU’s 49-14 win at Gettysburg. The junior broke through and scooped up the loose ball after a teammate's block, returning it six yards for a touchdown. He also added two solo tackles in the victory as the Captains improved to 2-0.
 
OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEE
MORDECAI FORD • Rowan University
Freshman • Running Back • Toms River, NJ/Toms River North
 
Mordecai is named NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week after rushing for 100 yards and his first collegiate touchdown in Rowan’s 56-0 win over Moravian. The freshman carried the ball 13 times and broke off a 46-yard score in the fourth quarter. He also caught two passes for 21 yards, contributing to Rowan’s 496 yards of total offense.

JACKSON AMBRUZS • Christopher Newport University
Freshman • Linebacker • Austin, TX / James Madison (VA) HS
 
Ambruzs is named NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week after leading the Captains in tackles during their 49-14 win at Gettysburg. The freshman made six total stops—three solo and three assisted—and also recovered a fumble as CNU improved to 2-0 on the season.
