PITMAN--The College of New Jersey’s junior forward Alison Jaeger and Rowan University junior back Nicole Valianti have been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Attack and Defensive Players of the Year respectively for the 2010 season. Their selections highlighted the 21-member 2010 NJAC women’s lacrosse all-conference team which was announced on May 11. All selections were made by a vote of the conference’s six head coaches.
A three-time NJAC Player of the Week seleciton, Jaager was named the league’s top attack player for the second consecutive season. She currently leads the NJAC in both points per game (5.71) and goals per game (4.41). In the latest NCAA Division III statistics, Jaeger ranks seventh in the nation in total points (97) and sixth in total goals (75).
Valianti was named the league’s top defensive player after helping the Profs capture their first NJAC Championship in program history. She currently ranks 13th in the NJAC in assists per game (0.75) and 14th in ground balls per game (1.75. Valianti was a key member of the Profs defense which averaged a league-high 10.00 caused turnovers per game against NJAC competition.
The College of New Jersey’s sophomore midfielder Kathleen Notos was named the league’s Midfielder of the Year, marking the second consecutive season that a Lion has garnered the honor. The 2009 NJAC Rookie of the Year selection currrently leads the NJAC in draw controls per game (4.94). A two-time first-team all-conference selection, Notos currently ranks 10th in the NJAC in goals per game (2.24) and 12th in the league in points per game (2.59).
TCNJ’s junior net-minder Mary Waller was tapped as the NJAC Goaltender of the Year for the second consecutive season. Waller currently leads all NJAC goalies with a 7.54 goals against average. Against NJAC competition, she recorded a 5.57 goals against average during a league-high 290 minutes played.
Montclair State University freshman forward Kailee Beal was selected as the NJAC Rookie of the Year after earning a first-team all-conference selection at her attack position. A two-time NJAC Rookie of the Week selection, Beal currently ranks 13th in the NJAC in draw controls per game (1.94) and 18th in the league in points per game (2.35).
After leading the Profs to the second NJAC championship in women’s lacrosse ever awarded, Rowan head coach Lindsay Delaney was selected as the NJAC Coach of the Year by her peers. So far in 2010, she has guided the Profs to the NJAC crown with a perfect 5-0 conference mark while securing a bid to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament via an 11-5 overall record. In three seasons at the helm of the Rowan program, Delaney has guided the Profs to an overall record of 32-19.
