PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its field hockey weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 7.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KARA WILSON • The College of New Jersey
Junior • Midfield/Forward • Egg Harbor Twp., NJ / Egg Harbor Twp.
Wilson secured NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring four goals to lead TCNJ to a 2-0 week. The junior midfielder/forward netted a pair in each of the Lions’ victories, recording the first two multi-goal games of her career. She struck for the go-ahead and insurance tallies in a 4-1 win at DeSales before adding the opening two goals in a 7-0 rout of Juniata. Wilson finished the week with eight points on 10 shots, with two of her four goals standing as game-winners. She currently leads the NJAC with four goals on the year.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MARIAH JUILIANO • Rowan University
Senior • Goaltender • Williamstown, NJ / Williamstown
Juiliano was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week after turning aside 21 shots in a challenging slate for No. 14 Rowan. The senior goalie made a season-high 11 saves to backstop a 3-1 win over No. 22 Swarthmore, then followed with 10 more stops while facing 11 corners in a narrow 3-2 setback to No. 5 Johns Hopkins. Juiliano finished the week with an .840 save percentage and now owns a 1.33 goals against average on the season. She owns the second-highest save percentage in the NJAC on the young season (.879).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
AVA THOMAS • Rowan University
Freshman • Forward • Southampton, NJ / Seneca
Thomas earned NJAC Rookie of the Week recognition after collecting her first collegiate goal. She scored an insurance goal in No. 14 Rowan’s 3-1 win over No. 22 Swarthmore. After the Profs had gone up 2-1 in the 36
th minute, Thomas caged her first career goal at 44:29 to put the game out of reach.
