Kean's Gilman Drafted by Boston Red Sox

Cumberland, Ga. (7/14/25) – Senior Jason Gilman was selected in the 16th round of the Major League Baseball 2025 First-Year Player Draft by the Boston Red Sox.

Gilman becomes the seventh player in program history to be chosen in the draft and the first since 2013.

"The feeling is unreal and I know it's just the start of a new journey", said Gilman. "I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to live out my dream."

Gilman was named ABCA and D3Baseball Division III National Pitcher of the Year after leading a Cougars squad that reached the NCAA Division III College World Series in Eastlake, Ohio.

The NJAC Male Athlete of the Year fanned 14 batters to eliminate #1 and top seeded Johns Hopkins University.

The NJAC Pitcher of the Year joins Kevin Herget (2013-STL), Chris Eickhorst (2001-TB), Mike Piercy (1999-PIT), Jon Ciravolo (1997-ATL), Michael Murray (1984 – CWS) and Mike Manfre (1981-CIN).

Gilman finished his career at Kean with a 2.58 ERA, a 21-5 record and 261 strikeouts over 198 2/3 innings pitched. This season, he complied a 2.08 ERA with 150 strikeouts and a 14-1 record over 112 1/3 innings pitched.
