Rowan's Ella Pennington Named Swimmer of the Year; NJAC Women's Swimming & Diving All-Conference Announced

PITMAN, NJ --- Three-year All-American Ella Pennington (Elkton, MD/Elkton) from Rowan University has been named the NJAC Swimmer of the Year to headline this year's slate of women's swimming and diving all-conference honorees.

The College of New Jersey junior Beth Evaldi (Ewing, NJ/The Hun School) was tabbed NJAC Diver of the Year for the second straight year and Kean University freshman Braelyn Wilson (Mont Vernon, NH/The Academy for Science & Design) was selected as the NJAC Rookie of the Year. Salisbury University head coach Nate Parsley and his staff was voted as the NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight year.

All major awards were selected by a vote of the conference's 10 head coaches and take into account the body of work for the entire 2024-25 season. The all-conference teams were determined by place finish at this year's NJAC Swimming & Diving Championship meet.

Pennington earned All-America status three individual events at the NCAA Division III Championships, including First Team All-America accolades in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke along with Second Team honors in the 100 butterfly. She placed third overall in the 200 back, seventh in the 100 back, and ninth in the 100 fly to finish among the nation's top 10 best in all three of her qualifying events. Pennington, a six-time NJAC Swimmer of the Week, swept the backstroke events at the NJAC Championships and added a gold medal in the 100 fly. She set new NJAC championship meet records in all three events. Pennington was also a member of Rowan's three silver medal relays, including the 400 and 800 freestyle relays and the 400 medley relay. For the season, Pennington was among NCAA Division III's top-10 fastest times of the season in the 100 and 200 backstroke and the 100 butterfly, including posting the fourth-fastest 200 back time in the nation this year.

Evaldi earns the conference's top diving honor for the second straight year. The three-year all-conference diver and five-time NJAC Diver of the Week swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the NJAC Championships. She accumulated a meet-record 399.20 points on the 3-meter board, which was among the top 20 scores in NCAA Division III this season. She also earned 394.65 points on the 1-meter board to rank among the nation's top 30 and is currently the NJAC championship meet record holder in that event as well. Evaldi placed 10th overall on the 1-meter board and 11th on the 3-meter board at the NCAA Diving Regional to wrap up her junior season.

Wilson, a five-time NJAC weekly award winner, made a huge splash in her rookie season at Kean as she earned All-America honors in two events. She placed sixth overall in the 100 backstroke at the NCAA Division III Championships to earn First Team All-America accolades and 13th in the 50 freestyle for Second Team All-America honors. She also qualified for the national meet in the 200 backstroke.  The rookie from New Hampshire won the NJAC 50 freestyle title and was the leadoff of two gold-medal-winning relays for Kean, including the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay. Her 50 free and both relays set new NJAC championship meet records. Wilson also earned the silver medal in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, along with the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays. Wilson owns D3's ninth-fastest 100 backstroke time for the entire season and tied for the 12th-fastest 50 freestyle of the year.

Salisbury head coach Nate Parsley along with assistants Keaton Burke, Chase McClure, and Jill Stephenson earn their second NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year honor in as many years, voted on by their peers. They led Salisbury to a perfect 7-0 dual meet record, the Sea Gulls' first-ever NJAC Championship title, and the program's first-ever national ranking. They also had 13 event medalists at the NJAC meet, as the program took home six golds, three silvers, and four bronze medals. They also coached Sydney McCallie to three NCAA event qualifications.
