Ramapo's Peter Gorman Named Pony Wilson Player of the Year; NJAC Men's Basketball All-Conference Announced

PITMAN, NJ --- Ramapo College senior guard Peter Gorman (South Amboy, NJ/Mater Dei) has been named the 2024-25 NJAC Men’s Basketball Pony Wilson Player of the Year, announced on February 26.

Rutgers University-Newark senior guard Levi Holton (Paterson, NJ/Eastside) was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight year. Montclair State University freshman guard Kabrien Goss (Trenton, NJ/Roman Catholic) was tabbed the conference’s Rookie of the Year, while MSU head coach Justin Potts and his staff were voted the league’s John K. Adams Coaching Staff of the Year.

Their selections highlighted the 14-member NJAC men’s basketball all-conference team. All NJAC special awards and all-conference honors were determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches and were based on conference-only performances.

Gorman powered Ramapo to a 13-5 NJAC record in regular season play, helping the Roadrunners finish second to secure a bye in the NJAC Tournament. The three-time all-conference guard was the leading scorer in conference play this season, pouring in 23.9 points per game against NJAC opponents. He was efficient, ranking sixth in conference-only field goal percentage (51.3%), fourth in conference-only 3-point percentage (43.7%), and third in conference-only free throw percentage (87.3%). Gorman put up double figures in all but one NJAC game this year, with 13 outings of 20+ points and three outings of 30+ in the regular season. He poured in 39 against Stockton on Feb. 15 and 38 in his last visit to Montclair State on Dec. 11. A three-time NJAC Player of the Week this year, Gorman currently ranks in the top 30 in the nation in overall scoring (21.6 ppg).

Holton earns the yearly defensive honor for the third straight year. A two-time NJAC Player of the Week, Holton locked down opponents’ top scorers. As a guard, he ranked third in the NJAC in conference-only rebounding by grabbing 7.6 boards per game. He pulled down double-digit rebounds in 11 games overall, including nine in NJAC play, with a season-best 12 rebounds on three different occasions. The career 1,000-point scorer was also a force on the offensive end, ranking fifth in the NJAC in conference-only scoring (19.4 ppg) with an efficient 50.2 percent clip from the field. He scored in double figures in all but two games this year, with a season- and career-best 38 against William Paterson. Holton recorded nine double-doubles in conference play this year and 11 overall.

Goss, a Week 4 NJAC Rookie of the Week, made an immediate impact on a Montclair State squad that is now hosting the NJAC Championship game for the first time in program history after winning the regular season title. The rookie guard is a playmaker, ranking third among all NJAC players in conference-only assists (4.3 apg). He dished out a career-best nine assists on two different occasions, including once in NJAC action against William Paterson. He also posted two eight-assist outings in conference play. Goss also chipped in 5.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game against NJAC opponents and snagged 1.2 steals per game. Goss put up a career-best 16 points early in the season against Rowan.

Montclair State head coach Justin Potts and assistants Sean Rossi, Will Bishop, Zach Warech were selected by their peers as the John K. Adams Coaching Staff of the Year. Potts and staff guided the Red Hawks to a 14-4 NJAC record and the conference regular season title. They oversaw a squad that posted the widest scoring margin in the conference at +8.0 and second-highest scoring offense at 84.6 points per game in NJAC action. With the NJAC semifinal win on Tuesday evening, the Red Hawks won their 20th game of the season and are now hosting the NJAC championship game in Panzer Athletic Center for the first time in program history.
