Women's Swimming & Diving

Rowan's Pennington, MSU's Hitchens, Salisbury's Odonoghue Earn NJAC Women's Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its women's swimming & diving weekly honors for the week ending Nov. 2.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
ELLA PENNINGTON • Rowan University
Senior • Elkton, MD/Elkton

Pennington is named NJAC Swimmer of the Week for the second time after sweeping three events in Saturday's meet at Salisbury. The senior captured first place in the 100 backstroke (1:03.64), 200 backstroke (2:20.42), and 100 butterfly (1:03.97), setting new facility records in both backstroke events. Pennington's 100 butterfly time ranks first in the NJAC and 24th nationally, while her backstroke performances would place within the top 20 nationally if not for her own faster times earlier this season—she currently owns the third-fastest 200 backstroke and fifth-fastest 100 backstroke in Division III.

DIVER OF THE WEEK
AUDREY HITCHENS • Montclair State University
Senior • Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West

Hitchens earns NJAC Diver of the Week honors after leading Montclair to a 173-115 victory over Vassar. The senior posted season-best scores of 158.55 on the 1-meter 5-dive and 216.45 on the 1-meter 6-dive en route to a first-place finish. Her 6-dive score ranks third in the NJAC.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
ROWAN ODONOGHUE • Salisbury University
Freshman • Newark, DE/Saint Marks

Odonoghue is selected as NJAC Rookie of the Week for the second time after capturing three gold medals and one silver in the Sea Gulls' victory over Rowan. The freshman took individual titles in the 200-meter freestyle (2:09.37), the fastest time in the NJAC when converted to yards, and the 400 freestyle (4:35.16), which converts to a time tied for first in the conference in the 500-yard equivalent. Odonoghue also posted a runner-up finish in the 50 meter freestyle (27.98), a time tied for seventh in the NJAC when converted to yards.
