GLASSBORO, NJ --- Johnny Troiano's goal in the 83rd minute lifted Rowan to a 1-0 victory over William Paterson in a men's soccer quarterfinal on November 1, 2025, at the Rowan Soccer/Lacrosse Complex in Glassboro.
Troiano, who had been threatening all match with eight shots, finally broke through with just under seven minutes remaining. The senior forward converted a long cross into the box with a one-touch finish, assisted by Luke McNamee and Jake Homowitz, to give Rowan (14-3-4) the decisive goal.
The match was dominated by the home side from the opening whistle. Rowan outshot William Paterson 17-7 overall and held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.
William Paterson goalkeeper Luca Misko kept his team in the match with five saves, including several crucial stops on shots from Troiano and Davide Caputo. Rowan's Travis Holiday made three saves to preserve the clean sheet for the Profs.
Rowan controlled possession throughout, earning five corner kicks to William Paterson's four. The Profs were particularly dominant in the first half, taking 13 shots compared to just one for the visitors.
With the victory, Rowan advances to the semifinal round where the Profs will head to Stockton for a 7:00 PM match on Wednesday.
