Salisbury Clinches Share of 2024 NJAC Football Title

EWING, NJ --- Salisbury secured at least a share of the 2024 NJAC football title with a 52-35 victory over TCNJ on Saturday at Lions' Stadium. With the win, the Sea Gulls improve to 8-0.

The title is the sixth that the Sea Gulls have either won outright or shared since joining the NJAC in 2015.

The game was a high-scoring contest where both teams traded blows throughout the first half. TCNJ jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead, capitalizing on an early Salisbury fumble. However, Salisbury responded with a steady offensive surge, with Michael Cox scoring on a 2-yard run in the first quarter. By halftime, the teams were locked at 28-28, as Salisbury’s dynamic rushing attack and strategic passing plays helped them erase TCNJ’s initial lead.

In the second half, Salisbury's offense found its rhythm, taking control of the game with consistent scoring drives. Quarterback SyRus McGowan connected with Daniel Clark for a 23-yard touchdown early in the third quarter, pushing Salisbury into the lead for the first time. The Sea Gulls’ ground game dominated, amassing 464 rushing yards by the end of the contest. Cox was particularly effective, finding the end zone three times and adding to Salisbury's 24-point second-half surge. Salisbury's defense also tightened, allowing only seven points in the final two quarters and forcing two interceptions to stifle TCNJ's passing game.

Salisbury steps out of conference action next week with the home finale against McDaniel before wrapping up the regular season at Kean on Nov. 16.
