Rowan Wins 2023 NJAC Men's Cross Country Title

GALLOWAY, NJ --- Rowan successfully defended its 2022 NJAC Men's Cross Country title, edging TCNJ by a single point to take home the 2023 trophy on Saturday morning in Galloway.

The Profs won their second straight and 25th overall team title, amassing 33 points. The Lions finished in second with 34 points,, followed by host Stockton in third (82 points) and Ramapo in fourth (94 points). Rutgers-Newark and Kean rounded out the team finishes.

Stockton's Erik Ackerman won the individual title, as the junior clocked in at 26:01 on the 8k course.

Rowan captured the team title with all five scoring runners in the top 12, led by individual runner-up Scott Hubbard (26:06) and third place finisher Jacob Riley (26:11). Joshua Cason (26:16) placed seventh overall and Shane Vostenak (26:26) finished ninth. Dario Epifania rounded out the scoring runners in 12th, clocking in at 26:49. Rowan's sixth and seventh runners - Matthew Conway (26:51) and Tyler Greene (26:54) - finished in all-conference status by placing 13th and 14th overall.

TCNJ put all five scoring runners in the top 11, led by rookie Brandon Chen finishing fourth overall (26:13). He led a pack of Lions that went 4-5-6, including Matt Granizo (26:15) and Brian Micco (26:15). Michael Rodriguez (26:25) and Kevin Matthews (26:34) rounded out the scoring Lions as they placed eighth and 11th, respectively.

Host Stockton placed third overall behind three runners in the top 30, including individual champion Ackerman. Shane McDevitt clocked in at 27:25 for 21st and Angelo Moynihan finished 27th overall (27:55).

Ramapo was led by senior Ian McCauley, who clocked a 26:30 for a top-10 finish. Classmate Jason Mercado placed 16th overall with a time of 26:57 and Mohamed Nidaazzi was 18th overall (27:11).

Adam Abushanab led Rutgers-Newark once again, crossing the finish line in 28:03 for 32nd overall.

Kean's William Mitchell paced the Cougars with a 33rd place overall finish, clocking a 28:04. David Morrow led a group from Rutgers-Camden, finishing in 33:19 for 70th overall.
