Montclair State's Peralta, Salisbury's Schlutt Earn First NJAC Women's Swimming Weekly Honors of 2023-24

PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its first women's swimming weekly honors of the season, covering the performances for the week ending Oct. 8.
 


SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
ROURKE PERALTA • Montclair State University
Sophomore • Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central

Peralta earns the first NJAC Swimmer of the Week honor of the 2023-24 season after leading Montclair State to a season-opening 166-96 win over Stevens. The sophomore won four individual events, including the 50, 100, 200, and 400 freestyle. She clocked a 24.52 in the 50; 55.06 in the 100; 2:01.01 in the 200; and 3:48.41 in the 400. Peralta enters her sophomore season on the heels of a rookie year that saw her earn First Team All-NJAC honors in the 50 free.


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
EMMA SCHLUTT • Salisbury University
Freshman • Maple Valley, WA/Tahoma

Schlutt becomes the first-ever Salisbury woman to earn NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for swimming as the Sea Gulls debuted as affiliate members of the NJAC. She won three individual events and one relay while breaking the Maggs pool record in the 100 IM. She was the high scorer in the season-opening dual meet 184-78 win over TCNJ, racking up 27 points. Schlutt won both the 50 back (31.74) and 100 back (1:08.19), the 100 IM (1:09.70), and was part of the winning 200 medley relay (2:03.70). Times were achieved in a 25-meter pool.
