PITMAN --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its weekly honors for the week ending March 27.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JACLYN CARIFI • The College of New Jersey
Junior • IF/OF • Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills
Carifi becomes the second Lion in the past three weeks to earn NJAC Player of the Week honors, joining Week 3 winner Victoria Aspiazu. Carifi batted a sizzling .700 (7-for-10) with five doubles, four runs scored, and three RBI as TCNJ swept both Cabrini and Manhattanville. She posted a 1.200 slugging percentage. She was 4-for-5 with three doubles and three runs against Cabrini, and then went 3-for-5 with two more doubles against Manhattanville. She currently leads the NJAC with a .528 batting average and .630 on-base percentage.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
SIDNEY DABBADIE • New Jersey City University
Sophomore • Pitcher • Burbank, CA/John Burroughs
Dabbadie becomes the first Gothic Knight since Ashley O’Beirne in 2010 to earn NJAC Pitcher of the Week accolades. She fired two complete game shutouts for her third and fourth wins of the season. In 12.0 innings pitched, she allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out a whopping 19 batters and not allowing a single run (earned or unearned). She hurled a two-hit, nine-strikeout gem in an 18-0 win over Brooklyn. She then went the distance in a 1-0 pitchers’ duel over Hunter, allowing just four hits and striking out 10 for her third double-digit strikeout performance of the season. Dabbadie currently leads the NJAC with a 1.48 ERA on the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
BRIANNA SEGNELLO • Stockton University
Freshman • Outfield • Mount Olive, NJ/Mount Olive
Segnello earns her first NJAC Rookie of the Week honor after leading Stockton in a doubleheader sweep of Neumann in midweek action. She batted .571 with four hits - including a double - along with three runs scored and two RBI. She also picked up three stolen bases. She went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two stolen bases, and a run scored in the front end of the twinbill. She then went 2-for-3 with a walk, stolen base, and two runs scored in the nightcap. Segnello is batting .362 through her first 14 collegiate games and is riding a four-game multi-hit streak.
ROOKIE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
JAELYNN MILLER • William Paterson University
Freshman • Pitcher • Oxford, NJ/Warren Hills
Miller collects her first NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week honor after posting a 2-1 record in the circle for William Paterson last week. She opened the week with five innings of two-hit ball as she picked up the win in the nightcap against Hunter. She struck out seven and walked just one. She posted a complete game shutout in the second of a twinbill against Manhattanville, striking out three and scattering seven hits. She added seven more strikeouts in a loss to St. Joseph’s (LI) for a weekly total of 17 Ks. Miller currently leads all NJAC rookies and is fourth overall with 47 strikeouts so far this season.
