PITMAN, NJ --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its football weekly honors for the week ending Nov. 13, the final selections of the season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOEY BILDSTEIN • Salisbury University
Junior • Superback • Ridgely, MD/North Caroline
Bildstein collects the final NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season as the Sea Gulls concluded the regular season with their fourth straight NJAC title with a 36-33 win over CNU. The junior superback had a monster day, rushing for a career-high 239 yards on 36 carries and five touchdowns. It was the first time an SU player has rushed for five scores since the 2010 season. It was also SU’s first 200-plus yard game since the 2018 season. Bildstein also crossed the 1,000-yard mark in a season. Bildstein and Salisbury head to the NCAA ptlayoffs where they face Mount Union in a first-round matchup.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KINDRICK BRAXTON • Christopher Newport University
Junior • Defensive Back • Goochland, VA/Goochland
Braxton picks up the final NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the 2022 season, his second honor on the year. He set a new CNU school record on Saturdray for tackles in a game with 21 in the Captains’ 36-33 loss at Salisbury. He racked up 13 solo stops, assisted on eight more, and also registered an interception. Braxton averaged 8.0 tackles per game in conference play this year to rank sixth among all NJAC players. He was a defensive force on a CNU team that went 5-1 in NJAC play this season.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KOLLIN SAMAHA • Salisbury University
Freshman • Kicker/Punter • Lovettsville, VA/Woodgrove
Samaha is named the final NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week, helping Salisbury conclude the regular season with an NJAC-title clinching win over CNU. Samaha played an essential role in the field position battle against CNU. With six of his kickoffs, he kicked three touchbacks and totaled 378 yards. His final kickoff of the game, he pinned CNU on the two-yard line with less than two minutes in the game. CNU’s final drive led to an interception to seal the conference championship.
OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
GUNNER WHITE • Christopher Newport University
Freshman • Running Back • Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood
White was named the Offensive Rookie of the Week for the second straight week and third time overall this season for his performance in CNU’s season finale. The freshman from Virginia Beach ran for 36 yards on nine carries, and also led the Captains in receiving with five catches for 78 yards. White caught two touchdown passes from junior quarterback Matt Dzierski on throws of 16 and 29 yards. The rookie leads all NJAC rookies and is third overall with 85.0 rushing yards per game in conference play this year.
DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
NICK ATCHISON • Kean University
Freshman • Defensive End • Ocean Township, NJ/Ocean Township
Atchison is named the final NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week of the 2022 season after helping Kean close out the year with a 17-10 win at TCNJ. He posted a season-high five tackles (three solo), including two for a loss of seven yards and a sack for a loss of six yards. Atchison wrapped up his first season in Union with 14 tackles, three for loss, a sack, and a pass breakup.
