NJAC Football Weekly Honors Announced For Week Ending Oct. 2

PITMAN, NJ --- The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its football weekly honors for the week ending Oct. 2.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MATT DZIERSKI • Christopher Newport University
Junior • Quarterback • Lorton, VA/South County

Dzierski earns his second weekly honor of the season after accounting for all three scores Saturday by running for two touchdowns and also throwing for one in a win over Rowan. He opened the scoring with a 34-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and ran for a one-yard score in the second quarter. His 61-yard touchdown scamper in the third quarter proved to provide the winning margin for the Captains in the six-point victory. He finished the day 13 of 16 passing for 184 yards, and rushed the ball 25 times for 132 yards.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CALEB BRUBAKER • Salisbury University
Sophomore • Defensive Back • Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg Area

Brubaker earns his first NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honor after anchoring the Salisbury defense in a 30-7 win over Montclair State in the NJAC opener. Brubaker led the Salisbury defense with a pair of interceptions, including a 79-yard pick-six in the third quarter. He added six tackles to limit the Red Hawks to 194 yards of total offense. Brubaker has now recorded an interception in three consecutive games.


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NOAH CHRISTENSON • Salisbury University
Freshman • Kicker/Punter • Alexandria, VA/West Potomac

Christenson picks up his first NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week honor for his contributions in Salisbury’s win over Montclair State in the conference opener. Christenson punted four times for the Sea Gulls for 158 yards with a 39.8 average, including a punt downed inside the 20. The rookie ranks fourth in the NJAC with a 36.2-yard punting average on the year.


OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
COLIN HART • Christopher Newport University
Freshman • Wide Receiver • Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge

Hart earns his first and CNU’s second NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week honor, joining Week 2 honoree Gunner White. Hart led the CNU offense in receiving with four catches for 122 yards in the win over Rowan in the NJAC opener. He scored the game’s first TD on a 34-yard scoring strike from Dzierski, his second touchdown reception of the season. Hart also caught a 65-yard pass from Dzierski early in the second quarter that led to CNU’s second touchdown of the day.


DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
YASIR GETER • Christopher Newport University
Freshman • Cornerback • Suffolk, VA/King’s Fork

Geter earns his first NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week honor for his performance in CNU’s win over Rowan in the NJAC opener. Starting at cornerback, he intercepted a pass late in the second quarter, the game’s only interception, and also accounted for five tackles. Three of his five stops were solo tackles.
