Paul Williams Named Coordinator of Athletic Operations at Kean University

UNION, NJ --- Paul Williams has been hired as the Coordinator of Athletic Operations as announced by Kelly Williams, Director of Athletics on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020.

The Coordinator of Athletic Operations is responsible for managing logistics related to setup and breakdown of all varsity games, events, camps and clinics on campus.  In addition the coordinator assists with preparation of equipment, uniforms and gear for practices and games while overseeing game day staff.

Williams comes to Kean with over eight years of professional basketball experience in addition to another eight years of coaching and mentoring. 

"I am greatly appreciative of the opportunity to be part of the coveted Kean Athletics department," stated Paul Williams. "Given my collegiate and professional basketball background, I have a clear passion for athletics and understand the importance the athletics department serves in shaping the university experience for a student-athlete.  I am happy to be in a role where I can influence a positive experience and give confidence to coaches and students alike, so that they can focus on their respective sports knowing all other logistics have been handled.  Looking forward to kicking off the new year with the Cougar family!"

Currently Williams is a coach and manager at Stack Sports Performance.  He is responsible for all aspects of coaching nationally competitive AAU basketball teams.  In addition he is responsible for overall program planning which includes practice and competition schedules, travel itineraries and expenses.  He oversees and coordinates basketball camps, clinics and tournaments. 

As an athlete, Williams played professional basketball oversees in England, Spain, Vietnam and Japan from 2007-2016.  While in Europe he was named British League Center of the Year and Spain LEB Bronze Defensive Player of the Year.  He added all-league honors on multiple occasions.  While in Japan he was recognized as Japan League Player of the Month. 

Prior to joining the professional ranks, Williams was a student-athlete at St. Bonaventure University.  There he averaged over 10 points and seven rebounds per game in his junior and senior seasons.  He graduated from St. Bonaventure in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.

Williams had assistant coaching stops with St. Patrick's High School (Elizabeth, N.J.) and The City (NYC) AAU basketball team.  He also worked with Kevin Boyle as a camp counselor for six summers.
