NJCU's Toney and Clement Earn NJAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

SAM TONEY • New Jersey City University
Senior • Forward • Plainfield, NJ/Williamstown
 
Toney collects his first NJAC Player of the Week honor of the season after leading NJCU in a tight game with Yeshiva in non-conference action. He scored 23 points on 9-for-18 shooting, including four 3-pointers, and added eight rebounds (four on the offensive glass), three assists, and two steals while committing just one turnover in 28 minutes. He scored his 1,500th career point and moved into seventh place in school history with 1,518 points. The two-time NJAC Player of the Year and two-time All-American is currently averaging 15.6 points per game, and ranks fifth in the NJAC with 6.7 rebounds per game.
 
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MICHAEL CLEMENT • New Jersey City University
Freshman • Center • Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Township
 
Clement picks up his first NJAC Rookie of the Week honor after contributing in NJCU’s non-conference tilt at Yeshiva. He scored a career-high 10 points on 3-for-4 shooting, and made all four free throw attempts. The rookie center also corraled two offensive rebounds, and did not commit a single turnover in 16 minutes of reserve action. Clement currently ranks tied for seventh in the NJAC with eight blocked shots this season, which is best among rookies.
