EWING—With a 194-97 victory over rival Rowan on January 28, The College of New Jersey’s women’s swimming & diving team captured its eighth consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship. The Lion women finished their conference schedule with a perfect 4-0 record for the fourth consecutive season.
The victory gave the TCNJ women their 12th NJAC swimming & diving championship in league history, and their eighth consecutive league crown since 1999-00. Due to a lack of institutional sport sponsorship, women’s swimming & diving was not recognized as a conference championship sport from a period of 2003 to 2008.
Since the NJAC does not sponsor a championship meet in the sport of swimming & diving, the conference title is awarded to the team with the best record in league dual-meet competition. The Lions claimed their fourth consecutive title since the return of NJAC women’s swimming & diving with victories over Ramapo (168-88 on October 29), Montclair State (175-110 on November 4), William Paterson (195-92 on January 21) and Rowan (194-97 on January 28).
