Rowan Breaks All-Time NCAA Record, Multiple NJAC Marks Fall on Day One of Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships

PHILADELPHIA --- Rowan made history Saturday night at the NJAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships, as the Profs' 4x200 meter relay team shattered the all-time NCAA record — across all divisions — and multiple NJAC Championship Records fell throughout the first day of competition at the Ott Center for Track & Field at the University of Pennsylvania.
 
TCNJ leads after the first day of competition with six of 18 scored events complete. TCNJ has 69 points, followed by Rowan University (65), Stockton University (33), Farmingdale State (21), Montclair State (19), Ramapo (14), Rutgers-Camden (5), Rutgers-Newark (3) and New Jersey City (2).
 
Rowan's 4x200 meter relay team of Elijah Hendricks, Julian Conigliaro, Evan Corcoran and Rajahn Dixon won the event in 1:23.59, setting the NJAC Championship Record and erasing Penn State's all-time NCAA record of 1:24.70, set in 2013. The Profs also won the Distance Medley Relay in 10:16.96, setting another NJAC Championship Record. The DMR team consisted of Blaik Slavinski, Shakur Taylor, Teddy Wilson, and Aidan Brad.
 
Stockton's Ahmad Fogg won the long jump with a mark of 7.54m, setting the NJAC Championship Record and ranking third in Division III this season. Rowan freshmen Bright John (7.30m, eighth in Division III this season) and Anthony Parker (7.28m) were second and third. Montclair State freshmen Jalen Balbuena (7.16m, 19th in Division III this season) and Elias Hanley (7.04m, 37th in Division III this season) were fourth and fifth.
 
Maxim Rychkov of TCNJ topped the 60 meter dash preliminaries in 6.75, setting the NJAC Championship Record and ranking sixth in Division III this season. Also advancing to the final are Rowan's Evan Corcoran (6.85), Masai Byrd (6.87), Madaijoudou Diawara (6.92) and John Williams (6.94), Montclair State's Jahmir Beal (6.88) and Jayson Ellis (6.92), and Stockton's Ahmad Fogg (6.96).
 
Rowan qualified six of the eight 60 meter hurdles finalists. Kwaku Nkrumah led the Profs with a time of 8.05, followed by Valentin Augustin (8.13), Jason Agyemang (8.15), Eric Foster Jr. (8.19), Anaias Hughes (8.22) and Michael Lawrence (8.35). TCNJ's Jayvee Dumas (8.38) and Stockton's Johnathan Holden (8.43) also advanced.
 
Freshman Josh Santiago of TCNJ won the 5,000 meters in a personal record 15:13.55. Anthony Guarino of TCNJ was second in 15:27.68, followed by Rowan's Anthony Faust (15:32.43) and TCNJ's Phil Pace (15:35.67).
 
Rowan's Tyler Raimondi won the pole vault at 4.53m. TCNJ's Jayvee Dumas was second at 4.43m. Zach Kosinski (TCNJ), Brayden Cisney (Stockton), Lian Thang (Rutgers-Camden) and Matthew Corrigan (TCNJ) tied for third at 4.13m.
 
Farmingdale State's Adonias Mercado won the shot put at 16.30m. TCNJ's Braden Paulmenn was second at 15.48m and Jayson Lewis third at 14.87m.
 
The championships continue Friday, February 27, with events beginning at 3:30 PM.
