Rowan Claims the 2016-17 NJAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship

GLASSBORO—The Rowan University men’s swimming & diving team clinched the 2016-17 NJAC championship with a 178-122 victory over rival TCNJ on January 21. The win earned the Profs their 14th NJAC men’s swimming & diving championship in program history, but their first since 1992-93.

Rowan became just the second NJAC program to claim the league crown since the return of men’s swimming & diving as a conference sport back in 2008-09.
Due to a lack of institutional sport sponsorship, men's swimming & diving was not recognized as a conference championship sport from a period of 1996 to 2008. The victory by the Profs also snapped a streak of 10 consecutive league titles won by TCNJ.

Since the NJAC does not sponsor a championship meet in the sport of men's swimming & diving, the conference title is awarded to the team with the best record in league dual-meet competition. With the win, the Profs posted a perfect 4-0 mark in conference this season. They secured victories over William Paterson (175-59 on November 11), Ramapo (166-88 on November 12), and Montclair State (155-139 on January 14) in addition to the clinching win over TCNJ.
