EWING—With a 14-6 NJAC road win at rival TCNJ on November 14, Rowan claimed a share of the NJAC football championship and secured the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. Rowan will be making its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
Morrisville State claimed a share of the NJAC championship on November 8 with a 38-20 road win at Montcalir State. For the Mustangs, the victory marked the program's first NJAC championship in this its last year of affiliate football membership in the NJAC.
On November 15, Montclair State also claimed a share of the NJAC championship with a 16-14 road win at rival Kean.
Rowan, Morrisville State, and Montclair State all finished with 6-1 records in league play and were declared 2014 NJAC football tri-champions, with the league's automatic bid awarded to the Profs via the conference tiebreaker of first-half scoring differential.
The 2014 season marks the fourth time in league history that the conference has declared football tri-champions, with previous three-way first-place ties occurring in 2010, 1983 and 1972.
