INDIANAPOLIS--The NCAA has announced that Rowan sophomore women's lacrosse player Brittany Petrella has been selected to serve a three-year term on the Division III National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
The NCAA Division III SAAC is a committee comprised of 24 student-athletes who represent the 43 conferences and independent institutions within Division III. Members serve as student-athlete liaisons between the happenings on campuses, conferences, and the national level. Members are selected by the Division III SAAC Nominating Committee from a diverse pool of candidates submitted by each conference. The Division III Nominating Committee and Management Council ratify the appointment and each student-athlete serves a non-renewable three-year term.
A native of Millstone, NJ and a graduate of Allentown high school, Petrella is a sophomore communications major who serves as a defender on the Profs' women's lacrosse team. A four-year letter-winner in lacrosse and a two-year captain at Allentown, she helped institute the women's lacrosse program at Allentown from its inception, helping the Redbirds earn a berth in the New Jersey State playoffs during both her junior and senior seasons.
Petrella, who currently co-chairs the Rowan campus Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, has a history of both leadership and service. She formerly served as the Vice President of the New Jersey Association of Student Councils, and continues to attend an annual leadership camp each summer.
Petrella will represent both the NJAC and its partner conference, the Liberty League, which consists of 10 full-member institutions in New York State.
