NEW ORLEANS—The College of New Jersey’s women’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams were among 106 NCAA Division III teams recognized by the United States Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association for academic excellence. The Lion women earned USTFCCA All-Academic Team honors by achieving a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.10 at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championships. Link to full story.

PHILADELPHIA—Nine NJAC student-athletes from Rowan and Rutgers-Camden were selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area teams in the sports of softball, women’s lacrosse, women’s track & field, and men’s track & field. All selections were voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 institutions in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area. The nine NJAC selections were highlighted by the naming of Camden’s Robin England and Frank Iwanicki as the women’s and men’s track & field academic performers of the year respectively for the 2009-10 academic year.

GREENCASTLE, IN--NJCU's La'Shonda Carter claimed the National Championship in the high jump with a winning leap of 1.72 meters at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted at DePauw University’s Indoor Tennis & Track Center on March 12-13. Carter was just one of 12 NJAC student-athletes who claimed All-American honors in the two-day National Championship.

CAMDEN--Rutgers-Camden head cross country and track & field coach Joe Puleo co-authored his first book, entitled, “Running Anatomy,” which was recently released by Human Kintetics Publishers of Champaign, IL. The 200-page book, which will be available in bookstores by early January, combines four-color anatomical illustrations with text to show exercises to convey proper running form, maximize performance, reduce and rehabilitate injuries, improve gait efficiency and increase overall performance.
